There’s a special meaning behind the caddie bibs at 2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson

McKINNEY, Texas — Athletes are taking their mental health more serious now than ever before.

That includes the PGA Tour, where players, like Wyndham Clark, have spoken how mental health coaches have helped them turn the corner to become some of the best golfers in the world.

With May being Mental Health Awareness Month, the Tour and CJ Cup added a special touch for players during this week’s tournament.

Caddies at the 2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch are wearing custom bibs selected by the players to showcase how they stay mentally strong and nurture their own mental health.

Jake Knapp, one shot off the lead heading into the final round, chose “Workout” to go on his caddie bib.

“I think mentally it’s just a space I can go away, put on headphones,” Knapp said Saturday. “Whether I need to take off stress or kind of work through something, it’s just always been somewhere that I go. Whether it’s like to the gym in general or training with guys in my garage or something like that, it’s just a good stress reliever for me.”

Ben Kohles’ bib was simple: “Enjoy Nature.”

“That is definitely one thing everyone can do a lot more of, just get outside, go on a walk with friends, your wife, whoever it is,” Kohles said. “We live in a world with a lot of screens these days, and I’m guilty as well; spend too much time on the screen. If you can just get outside and enjoy nature is nothing but good for you.”

Here’s a look at some of the caddie bibs during the CJ Cup Byron Nelson honoring Mental Health Awareness Month:
