The list of all-time winners on the PGA Tour is topped by two names: Tiger Woods and Sam Snead. Without getting into a debate about some of Snead’s victories — there’s certainly a time and a place for that, but not here — those two remain paired at the top of the list with 82.
With Rory McIlroy’s latest victory, the team event at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans — and yes, there’s also a time and a place to debate whwther team wins should count towards an individual’s win total, but not here — he became the 26th golfer to win at least 25 times on the PGA Tour.
McIlroy is tied at 25 with Johnny Miller, Tommy Armour and Macdonald Smith but among that group, McIlroy has the most majors (four). A 26th win would put him alongside Henry Picard. Should McIlroy get to 30, he’d be the 18th golfer to reach that plateau and the first since Vijay Singh to get there.
