Now in its fifth decade, Portugal’s TAP OPEN (named after its national carrier TAP Air Portugal) is one of the country’s oldest amateur golf championships.
The 46th TAP OPEN will take place this year in the beautiful and sunny Algarve’s Portimao and Lagos, from November 9-16, playing on golf courses including the PENINA, BOAVISTA, GRAMACHO and VALE DA PINTA.
The Open is a four-day tournament, with a practice day included, where you’ll have the opportunity to play on four different courses, with varied skill-testing terrains and conditions.
The competition will assign all golfers into four groups of equal size. All golfers will play at each of the four golf courses in a rotation method established by draw. (FORMAT: Strokeplay over 72 holes (18 holes x 4 golf courses) with handicap.)
And then, on the last day, there is the TAP Open Challenge Program, a one-day competition, at Penina Golf. (Format: Strokeplay. The tournament will be played in strokeplay mode, with limited strokes, with a maximum of 10 strokes per hole. The tournament will be played over a single round of 18 holes.)
