Defending champion Tom Kim withdraws from 2023 Wyndham Championship

Tom Kim suffered an injury during the 2023 Open Championship when he stepped off a patio at his rental home, resulting in a grade-1 tear in his ankle.

Despite not being 100 percent, Kim finished tied for second thanks to rounds of 68-68-67 over the final three days.

However, due to his ankle injury, Kim has withdrawn from the 2023 Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The 21-year-old won the event last year for his debut victory on the PGA Tour. His second and most-recent win came at the Shriners Children’s Open two months later.

With the playoffs beginning in two weeks at the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee, Kim hopes a little time on the sidelines will help his chances to make it to East Lake. As it stands now, Kim would be in the field for the Tour Championship as he sits 14th in the FedEx Cup standings.
